Prospecto Weekend

Well, the weekend of Prospecto flew by in a blur and I was fortunate to catch several great acts despite playing two out of the three nights. All of the bands really came together to make this thing the best it could be in it's inaugural year. Here's a list of the groups I got to see in chronological order:

Thursday:
Walden Pond, then performed with Chance Jones, Mustard Plug(just a couple songs), Baths(a couple of songs), Ozenza, El Ten Eleven.

Friday:
Pistolbrides, then performed with Heavier Than Air Flying Machines, Night Toucher

Saturday:
(Being that I was not playing this night, I was trying to cram in as much as possible.)
Shores(Caught the last song only, unfortunately.) Bowery(partial set), The Contours w/Joe Billingslea(Joe was one of the original founders of this killer motown group. Look them up if you don't know them. You know at least one hit song for sure.) Ghost Heart, and a couple of songs from the group Bump. We were going to go see Victor! Fix The Sun, but they canceled. Huge bummer seeing as how it was their last show ever.

There were so many groups that I missed due to playing and scheduling, which is incredibly unfortunate, but I had a great time catching what I could. My extreme gratitude goes out to the bands and especially the organizers of this event for showing what music in this town is all about. With a few tweaks and new-found knowledge applied, next year will be amazing as well.

I was able to get my picture taken with and meet Joe Billingslea and The Contours after their set Saturday night. What a hilarious and great group of guys.

On Sunday, the Prospecto guys threw together an artist luncheon at The Intersection and I got to hang out with various friends in the local music community as well as thank the organizers for their hard work. After that, The Concussions were playing a street party downtown, so I got there in time to catch the last two songs of their set. Those guys are unbelievable in every respect.

I can tell you right now that I got nowhere close to a healthy amount of sleep for the last 4 days and I'm fine with that. I just need to go home and sleep for 12 hours, I guess. Life is good.
